H2O Polo Basics --
The Water Polo Penalty Shot &
The 6 on 5 Offense

The Penalty Shot

A penalty shot may be called when a player is fouled in the act of shooting. This video explains the water polo penalty shot.

The 6 on 5 Power Play

While watching a water polo game, you will often hear the players shouting, "6 on 5, 6 on 5!" What does this mean?

It means that there has been a penalty that involves the exclusion of a player from the game, setting up a scoring opportunity... analagous to the penalty box and power play in a hockey game.

The video below explains this situation and the 6 on 5 offense it sets into play.
