Okemos v Ann Arbor Pioneer Water Polo Scores
October 15, 2008
Okemos Shooting Just Misses Mark with a 7 to 2 Loss at Pioneer .
What promised to be a very tight and physical game did not disappoint as Okemos and Pioneer slugged it out Wednesday night at Ann Arbor Pioneer high School. What the score board didn’t show was how close and physical this contest was. Okemos shooting was fierce with Junior Zachary Wozniak scoring both Okemos Goals. However, the usual Okemos scoring depth seemed to just miss the mark. Both teams started strong and with a quarter one ending score of 4 to 2 it looked like a repeat of last year's overtime match was in the works. Okemos defense and goal tending held Pioneer to only a single goal in the second quarter and just two in the third while shutting down the Pioneer offense in the forth and allowing no goals. The true story was at the other end of the pool as Okemos un-characteristically was scoreless in the three remaining quarters. The Okemos offense was performing well even accounting for the strong Pioneer defense, sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way. With a final regular season record of 25 wins and 11 losses this years team ties the school record for regular season wins.
As the last regular season game Okemos is taking full advantage of this final regular season contest to fine-tune their game leading into the post season which begins with the District tournament this weekend at Birmingham Seaholm High School.
